Come make your own Halloumi
Well that was a crazy time. Who knew!
We have decided to fling open our doors again to the cheese loving public and start running our very successful cheese making classes.
We want you to have a great and fun day but obviously things have changed, and we have put in place a few extra measures to ensure your safety.
This is a commercial food production space and we have always maintained the highest level of hygiene and cleanliness. All surfaces in this dairy; walls, tables, doors, equipment, handles etc are regularly cleaned and disinfected or steam cleaned.
Class sizes have been reduced to ensure we can all maintain social distancing.
During classes all the doors will be left open to ensure sufficient air flow and ventilation to the workspace area.
All guests will be offered face masks, gloves, handwashing facilities and aprons.
Any food will be ready in pre-packed boxed rather than our usual buffet style.
In the past participants have worked in pairs. This will only continue if you are part of the same family group or bubble. If you are attending alone, you will not be required to share space.
You will be required tp provide contact details for track and trace.
We will assume that all participants will not have had any onset of any Covid19 symptoms or knowingly been in contact with anyone displaying symptoms in the previous 14 days.
Who doesn’t love a bit of halloumi cheese either in a salad or the decadence of deep fried halloumi chips.
Home made halloumi is softer, richer and creamier than the over processed cheese available in the shops but have you ever wondered how to make your own halloumi at home?
In this 2.5 hour experience we guide you through every step of the process all the way from cold milk through to the delicious end product. You will go home with around a kilo of cheese ready for your tea. Traditional halloumi is made adding dried mint but if you want to spice it up your way then you are welcome to bring your own favourite herbs to add to your cheese
This course is a fun mix of practical cheese making, a bit of theory and cheese nibbling. We will supply all the equipment you need, you just show up and enjoy.
The Halloumi session will be very practical, fun and informative and will include:
- Refreshments on arrival
- An introduction to cheese making
- Milk tasting/comparison session
- Selection of cheese samples throughout the afternoon or evening
- Discussion on the uses of Halloumi and how it can be matured.
There will be plenty of time to ask questions. We will provide everything you need from protective clothing to milk. Just come as you are.
The evening runs from 6pm or 6.30pm to 8.30pm or 9pm (as per actual booking), Sunday afternoon classes run 11.30am -2pm and take place in our Micro Dairy in Tottenham, London N17
Please note: This course uses cow's milk and vegetarian rennet.
Cheesemaking cultures and rennet are now available online or on the day at the dairy
